What is an Occupational Certificate?

An Occupational Certificate is a nationally recognised qualification awarded to individuals who have demonstrated competence in a specific occupation.



This certificate is:

  • Industry-Standard:It aligns with the standards set by the industry to ensure relevance and applicability.
  • Skill-Focused:Designed to equip learners with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in their chosen field.
  • Work-Integrated:Includes components that provide real-world work experience, ensuring that property practitioners are industry-ready.
What is an RPL course?

A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) course is a shorter version of a full qualification course that is offered to individuals who have already been in the industry for a minimum of two years and have successfully completed and submitted their logbook to the PPRA.

What are the requirements to enrol for the RPL course?
  • Must have had a valid FFC for a minimum of 2 years (Copies to be provided);
  • Logbook must have been successfully completed and submitted to the PPRA (Must be ticked off on your PPRA profile);
  • Matric Certificate;
  • If you do not have a matric certificate, a matric maths and literacy bridging course must be completed.
What is the purpose of completing this qualification?

This qualification is an educational requirement for all candidate property practitioners that have been in the industry for 18 to 24 months and were unable to enrol for the old NQF4 qualification before it became a legacy qualification.

This qualification is to prepare candidate property practitioners for their careers in the real estate industry.
During the completion of this qualification, candidate property practitioners will learn how to complete and achieve all the necessary day to day skills to ensure their continued professionalism.

Duration of this qualification:

The RPL course is a “self-study” course that must be completed over a period of 3 months.

Structure of the course:

This new qualification is structured to offer comprehensive training that includes the following components:

  • Knowledge Modules: These modules provide the theoretical foundation necessary for understanding the principles and practices of real estate.
  • Simulated Practical Modules: These modules allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in controlled, simulated environments that mimic real-world scenarios.
  • Work Experience Modules: These modules involve actual work experience under the supervision of a qualified mentor or principal, offering hands-on training in real estate activities.
  • External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA): Ensure a uniform standard for the industry’s qualification.

  • Part 1: Knowledge Modules

    • Legislative and regulatory framework, NQF Level 4
    • Ethical business principles, NQF Level 5
    • Developing relationships, NQF Level 4
    • Brand reputation, NQF Level 4
    • Property and real estate services, NQF Level 4
    • Financial business principles, NQF Level 4

    Total number of credits for Knowledge Modules: 38

     

    Part 2: Practical Skill Modules

    • Employ macro trends to develop contracts in line with client needs and comply with legislation, NQF Level 4
    • Apply ethical principles in the interest of all stakeholders, NQF Level 5
    • Build proficient and sustainable client relationships, NQF Level 4
    • Develop and maintain a personal and professional brand through innovation and continuous improvement, NQF Level 4
    • Perform property and real estate duties resulting in successful transactions, NQF Level 4
    • Implement sound financial practices to achieve personal and business objectives, NQF Level 4

    Part 3: Work Experience Modules 

    • Procedures to identify the property and real estate environment and comply with legislative and regulatory framework, NQF Level 4
    • Processes and procedures for applying the Code of Conduct and adhering to ethical business principles, NQF Level 5
    • Process to build internal and /or external client relationships and databases, NQF Level 4
    • Procedures to build a brand reputation and develop a target market, NQF Level 4
    • Practices to manage the property and real estate function, NQF Level 4
    • Process to apply financial business principles, NQF Level 4
